We successfully held inception meetings with Hub and Spoke Health Facilities to formally introduce the
hashtag
#ACCESS O2 Project between May 5-15, 2026, supported by the Children's Prize, at 20 remote hospitals (see the attached pictures😊).
The meetings brought together health facility in-charges, nurses, midwives, clinical officers, biomedical technicians, and district health officers, all committed to strengthening access to life-saving medical oxygen for children under 5 and other patients in need.
During the engagements, health facilities emphasized how transformative the
hashtag
#O2Cubes will be for refilling oxygen cylinders and for improving reliable access to medical oxygen in remote and underserved areas.
At the end of the meetings, we agreed on timelines, sites for O2 Cubes house construction at hubs, and we reviewed the partnership memorandum of understanding detailing each party’s responsibilities.
The inception meeting marked an important step toward improving oxygen infrastructure, systems, and saving lives in hard-to-reach communities. We are grateful to all district leaders, health workers, partners, and participating facilities for their collaboration and commitment.
Together, we are building stronger oxygen systems for equitable healthcare access across Uganda.
"Work is always full of fun, smiles, and a sense of joy when you do what you love and are experienced in, with the clear intention (known to all) of saving lives".
