About Us

OxyCare Uganda improves healthcare systems by improving access to medical oxygen for vulnerable groups through providing sustainable biomedical solutions.

Who We Are

OxyCare Uganda is a registered non-governmental organisation working to improve healthcare systems by expanding access to medical oxygen for vulnerable groups. We focus on the West Nile region of Uganda, where oxygen shortages in health facilities contribute to preventable deaths among newborns, children, and adults with respiratory conditions.

Our approach is built on a sustainable oxygen-as-a-service model. Rather than simply donating equipment, we provide comprehensive support — including maintenance, repair, training, and monitoring — to ensure that oxygen concentrators remain functional and healthcare workers are equipped to use them effectively.

We target the critical gaps in the healthcare system by focusing on the maintenance, repair, and sustainable management of oxygen concentrators and other related biomedical equipment. Through strategic partnerships with district local governments, NGOs, and international organisations, we are scaling our impact across Uganda.

Saving lives through oxygen access

Our Mission

To improve healthcare systems by improving access to medical oxygen for vulnerable groups through providing sustainable biomedical solutions.

Our Vision

A Uganda where every healthcare facility has reliable, continuous access to medical oxygen, and no patient dies from a preventable lack of oxygen therapy.

Our Approach

We use an oxygen-as-a-service model — providing maintenance, repair, training, and monitoring — to ensure sustainable oxygen access without burdening facilities with capital costs.

The Problem We Solve

The Challenge

  • Oxygen concentrators break down frequently with no maintenance support
  • Healthcare workers lack training to operate and maintain equipment
  • Rural facilities in West Nile have limited access to biomedical technicians
  • Preventable deaths occur due to non-functional oxygen equipment
  • Newborns and children with pneumonia are most at risk

Our Solution

  • Regular preventive maintenance of oxygen concentrators
  • Rapid repair response when equipment fails
  • Hands-on training for healthcare staff on equipment use
  • Community engagement to raise awareness of oxygen therapy
  • Strategic partnerships to scale impact sustainably

Our Core Values

Compassion

We are driven by a deep commitment to the well-being of patients and communities we serve across Uganda.

Innovation

We develop sustainable, context-appropriate solutions to address the oxygen access gap in low-resource settings.

Collaboration

We work in partnership with healthcare facilities, governments, NGOs, and communities to achieve lasting impact.
